在场与自证

2024年的威尼斯双年展，策展人阿德里亚诺 ·佩德罗萨以“处处都是外人”作为策展轴线，提出一个关于身份的话题：“无论你身在何处，你内心深处永远都是一个真正的外人”。这并非危言耸听，而是对现实世界进行深度思考后提出的问题预警。其中包含着多重指向，也指向每一个“你”出于对外部世界判断上的陌生而自我抽身，成为“外人”。

时代此前，人类因信息和人口流动的便利，已经打破了地域界限与距离之隔，文化以游牧的方式相互交织。但此后，全球化进入新的变局，意识形态与贸易战，经济下行的不确定性，海量信息泥沙俱下，文化暗面的枯枝败叶，让人们逐渐失去了对外部世界的关注热情，目光回缩到对自我的得失测算。集体社会中人性本有的普世关爱的温情，正趋于蜕化成彼此漠不关心的孤硬。艺术何为？作为“生活的余象”（阿多诺语），艺术所表现出的感性与直觉，又总是与生命本在的时代相应相生。即使无人为艺术埋单，艺术仍在自证在场，守护“弱德之美”（叶嘉莹语）。因此，以艺术之名发起的对“外人”时代之问，无疑是希望借此观察和唤起具有智性思考的艺术家个体，他们在面对现实浑象时会做出怎样的应对行动，以及如何唤醒生命可为的相互关照。同样，第四届“青岛国际艺术年展”以“世说 ·私语”为年度关键词，立意也近于此：在人世纷纭中，邀约不同场域、身份的艺术家参与活动，用艺术阐述各自立场，以积极对抗消极，还生命以活力。

以打造“具有地缘特质的城市艺术节”为基调而发起的“青岛国际艺术年展”，必然带有地域性。但这并不是狭隘的地域自闭，而是希望以青岛作为活动发生地，以年度为时间界线，持续性地展现艺术与社会的关系、现象及趋势。

青岛作为一个年轻的移民城市和旅游城市，本身就具有“他者”文化交融的多重性，因此，第四届“青岛国际艺术年展”的策展思路也将循此展开。作为年展的主题展，“年度艺术文献调查展”依然以“本土”和“异地”交相呼应的方式，邀请工作生活于青岛的部分艺术家和全国各地部分活跃艺术家组成展览阵容；独立单元展包括：前展“格物志”是青岛人文学者、评论家李明老师近两年以日用品为材料所进行创作的最新作品。作为自85新潮至今一直活跃在青岛文史、文学及艺术领域的在场者，文字写作的李明与视觉艺术之间的关系似远又近，从中或也可以看出青岛当代艺术发展的脉络、冲突和妥协等，各种关系的交集；“线：言说+行动”——王璜生线系列艺术作品研究展”，展览从活跃于当代艺术场境的著名艺术家王璜生大体量的当代艺术创作中截取一个切面，管窥王璜生艺术的学理性与创造性；“马可·波罗在青岛”通过邀请国外艺术家到青岛旅行创作所留下的关于青岛印象的作品，展现“他者”对青岛的城市感知；“海归青年艺术家创作交流展”以多位具有海外求学背景的青岛青年艺术家的作品呈现，观察东西方文化对年轻一代艺术家的影响；“前置的日常-布料设计的艺术”以服装设计学院的师生们所创作的绘画及软雕塑作品，展示艺术创意及材料研究如何引导日常审美的动向；汐空间音乐单元独立呈现的“青岛声音”，聚焦青岛本土不同时期活跃的摇滚乐队及实验音乐团体，既是对青岛音乐的简单梳理，也是用音乐的激情点燃生命活力的一声呼唤；年展后期，朗艺美术馆将以几位中青年艺术家的力作组成跨年展，在学术交流的同时，也让年展及艺术具有了时间“不息”的展望意义。

作为经验世界的见证而存在的人，由与周围事物的关联而得到确认。时代的运转方向由所处其中的个体对喜乐悲欣的判断和行动决定。因此，生命何为？艺术何为的永恒之问，在时代的洪流中，要求艺术家保持清醒，回到“人”，起码以在场者的身份，自证人的存在价值。

For the Venice Biennale 2024, curator Adriano Pedrosa has taken "The Outsider Everywhere" as his curatorial axis, raising the question of identity: "No matter where you are, deep down you will always be a true outsider". This is not an alarmist statement, but an early warning of the problem after deep thinking about the real world. It contains multiple pointers, and also points to the fact that every "you" has withdrawn from the outside world out of the unfamiliarity of judgement, and become an "outsider".

Prior to this era, human beings had broken down geographical boundaries and distances due to the convenience of information and population mobility, and cultures intertwined with each other in a nomadic manner. But since then, globalisation has entered a new phase of change, with ideologies and trade wars, economic downturns and uncertainties, massive amounts of information, and the withering of the dark side of culture, which has gradually made people lose their passion for the outside world, and retract their gaze to measure their own gains and losses. The warmth of universal care that is inherent in human nature in a collective society is tending to degenerate into the hardness of indifference to each other. What is art? As a "residual image of life" (Adorno's words), the sensibility and intuition expressed in art always corresponds to the time of life. Even if no one pays the bill for art, art still proves its presence and guards the "The beauty of weak virtue" (Ye Jiaying). Therefore, the question of "outsiders" in the name of art is undoubtedly intended to observe and arouse the intellectual thinking of individual artists, how they respond to the muddled reality, and how they can awaken the mutual care of life. Similarly, the 4th Qingdao International Art Exhibition has adopted "Social phenomenon&Whisper" as the keyword of the year, and the intention is close to this: in the midst of the chaos of the world, artists from different fields and identities are invited to participate in the activities, and use art to explain their respective positions, so as to counteract the negativity with positivity, and to return the vitality of life. The idea is also similar: to invite artists from different fields and identities to participate in the event, to express their own positions through art, to counteract negativity with positivity, and to give life vigour.

The Qingdao International Art Exhibition, initiated under the theme of creating a "city art festival with geographic characteristics", is inevitably geographically specific. However, this is not a narrow geographical isolation, but a desire to take Qingdao as the place of activity, and to show the relationship between art and society, phenomena and trends on a continuous basis, with the year as the time boundary.

Qingdao, as a young immigrant city and tourist city, has a multiplicity of "other" cultures, therefore, the curatorial idea of the 4th Qingdao International Art Exhibition will also be developed accordingly. As the theme exhibition of the exhibition, the "Annual Art Documentation Survey Exhibition" will continue to echo "local" and "foreign", inviting some artists living and working in Qingdao and some active artists from all over the country to form the exhibition line-up. The independent unit exhibitions include: the former exhibition "Geshu Zhi" is the latest work created by Qingdao humanities scholar and critic Li Ming in the past two years, using daily necessities as materials. As an active participant in Qingdao's literature, history, literature and art fields since the 85th New Wave, the relationship between Li Ming's textual writing and visual art is both distant and close, from which we can see the intersection of various relationships, conflicts and compromises in the development of Qingdao's contemporary art; "Threads: Words + Actions". --Wang Huangsheng's line series of art works research exhibition", the exhibition from the famous artist Wang Huangsheng active in the contemporary art scene in the large volume of contemporary art creations in a cross-section, a glimpse of Wang Huangsheng's art of the scholastic rationality and creativity; "Marco Polo in Qingdao "Marco Polo in Qingdao" shows the perception of Qingdao by "others" through inviting foreign artists to travel to Qingdao and create works about Qingdao; " Young Artists Returning to Qingdao for Creative Exchanges" features a number of young Qingdao artists with overseas study backgrounds, who have been working in Qingdao for many years. The exhibition "The Daily Front - The Art of Fabric Design" presents the works of Qingdao young artists with overseas study backgrounds, and observes the influence of Eastern and Western cultures on the young generation of artists; "The Daily Front - The Art of Fabric Design" presents paintings and soft sculptures created by teachers and students of the Fashion Design Institute, and demonstrates how artistic creativity and material research can lead to the trend of daily aesthetics; "Qingdao Music" presented independently by the music unit of Shiodome Space, demonstrates how "others" perceive the city of Qingdao. The "Sound of Qingdao", independently presented by Shiodome Music Unit, focuses on rock bands and experimental music groups active in Qingdao at different times, which is not only a simple compendium of Qingdao's music, but also a call to ignite the vitality of life with the passion of music; in the latter part of the annual exhibition, Longyi Art Museum will form a cross-annual exhibition with masterpieces of young and middle-aged artists, which will provide a good opportunity for academic exchanges as well as for the annual exhibition and the exhibition to be held at the same time. At the end of the exhibition, Longyi Art Museum will form an inter-annual exhibition with the works of several young and middle-aged artists, which will provide academic exchanges and at the same time give the exhibition and the art an outlook on time.

The human being, who exists as a witness to the empirical world, is confirmed by his or her association with the things around him or her. The direction of the times is determined by the judgements and actions of the individuals who live in them in terms of their joys and sorrows. Therefore, the eternal question of what is life? The eternal question of what is the purpose of art requires the artist to stay awake in the current of the times, to return to the "human being", or at least to bear witness to the value of his or her existence as a witness to the world of experience.
